Kappa Alpha Psi ®, a college Fraternity, was born in an environment saturated in racism. Founded at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana when the campus at the time did not encourage the assimilation of Blacks. Ten men sought one another to develop the formation of the Fraternity. A vision shared commonly by the late Revered Founders Elder Watson Diggs, John Milton Lee, Dr. Byron Kenneth Armstrong, Dr. Guy Levis Grant, Dr. Ezra Dee Alexander, Atty. Henry Tourner Asher, Dr. Marcus Peter Blakemore, Paul Waymond Caine, Edward Giles Irvin and George Wesley Edmonds. On January 5, 1911, Kappa Alpha Nu was founded.
